Why Industries should provide first aid training to their employees?
If you protect your employees from covid-19 to any minor or serious illness/ injury in the workplace,
then you are doing great as a company.
As we all know that Employees are not only one of the most valuable assets of your company but they are also important customer,
who spreads the word of mouth about your internal work that they do. The most valuable companies in the world,
not only take care of their employees just by giving them training on various topics to enhance their self-development,
but they also give them trainings that would help themselves and the people around them medically,
such important training are called FIRST AID TRAININGS. Now whether these companies give
this training to their employees to pass in the audits or they give to actually enhance the
skills of their employees, depends on company to company.
Whether your employees work in an air-conditioned office or in a hot factory, they all need the knowledge of first aid.
SO, WHAT IS FIRST AID? answer to this is, First aid is the first and immediate assistance given to any person suffering
from either a minor or serious illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening,
or to promote recovery. Now by this definition by google, you can understand very easily that first aid can be given to
a person with a small cut by a paper or anything sharp to giving a person CPR because they had a heart attack.
Any help that you can give to yourself or to anyone until the full medical treatment is available is called FIRST AID.
Let’s come to the point that why industries should provide first aid training to their employees? Keeping it direct,
do you know about Workplace Injury Compensation in India, I think not.
So let me explain, this is especially concerned to companies with large labor forces, which might include IT (Information Technology)
INDUSTRIES, IT-BPO (Information Technology Business Process Outsourcing) OR ANY INDUSTRIAL COMPANIES.
But if you are thinking that you have a small business and you can get away with Workplace Injury Compensation in India,
then you’re wrong. small businesses are also impacted by labor laws that mandate compensation for employees injured on the job.
So, what is the LAW that governs compensation for workplace injuries? If the company has more than 20 employees,
the EMPLOYEES’ STATE INSURANCE ACT, 1948 applies. Under this act, the company and the employees pay insurance
benefits n case of injury. If by chance any workplace injury happens, the injured employee is able to avail of
both medical and financial support. The Employee’s Compensation Act, 1923, makes it mandatory for employers or companies
to inform their employees of their rights to compensation under the Act, either in writing or electronically,
in a language understood by the employee. Failing to do this, the employer is liable to a penalty of INR 50,000
which may be extended to INR 100,000.
